The Australian federal government on 7 August announced it has established a company to develop Western Sydney Airport (WSA).
Urban infrastructure minister Paul Fletcher and finance minister Matthias Cormann said that the government is investing equity of up to AUD5.3 billion (USD4.20 billion) in WSA Co Limited.
Paul O’Sullivan, appointed as chairman of WSA Co, is currently chairman of telecommunications company Singtel Optus. Three other board directors have been appointed; Fletcher said the board will recruit a CEO and other senior management officials.
