The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has awarded Spain-based Adelte a contract to supply 24 apron-drive passenger boarding bridges (PBBs) for 12 congested airports.
The electromechanical apron-drive bridges with glass tunnels will be equipped with the latest visual docking guidance technology for rapid boarding and disembarkation.
Work will completed by 2018 at airports serving Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Calicut, Coimbatore, Goa, Guwahati, Jammu, Lucknow, Mangalore, Trichy, Trivandrum, and Vadodara.
Installation of three other apron-drive PBBs at Goa will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2017, according to a statement from Adelte.
The complexity of this project, with airports spread all over India, “needed a company capable of handling the logistical difficulties associated with multisite projects”, it added. Adelte is working on similar projects in Iraq, Iran, and Pakistan.
