Midway and O’Hare International in Chicago, and Newark Liberty International in New Jersey, have installed predictive analytics technology to monitor passenger flow at security checkpoints and waiting times for taxis.
At the two Chicago airports, UK-based CrowdVision is teamed with Boingo Wireless, a US company that provides mobile internet access for wireless-enabled consumer devices, to feed live operational data to airports about checkpoint queues and journey times to boarding gates.
In 2016 the two firms installed video analytics systems at Midway and at one terminal in O’Hare. Installations at other terminals in O’Hare are in progress, and eventually all checkpoints at the Chicago hub will be covered.
