The Borealis Alliance of nine air navigation service providers (ANSPs) reports three more steps towards its ultimate objective of implementing full free route airspace (FRA) across northern Europe by 2021.
In October, the Irish Aviation Authority removed the route structure for lower airspace in the Shannon Flight Information Region, and it also extended FRA down to flight level 75.
Icelandic ANSP Isavia extended its FRA area with additional exit and entry points for traffic to and from Norway and Scotland; and NATS in the implemented additional FRA options to and from Reykjavik FIR.
