The new Pier B connected to Terminal 2B (T2B) at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport was topped out on 15 November, eight months after construction contractor KÉSZ Építő Zrt began work.
Completion of the HUF7.8 billion (USD29.2 million) is set for the second half of 2018. It increases the size of T2B – the non-Schengen terminal at Budapest – by more than 10,000 m 2 , and raises annual passenger capacity by up to six million. The 220 m-long pier includes 10 new passenger boarding bridges (PBBs).
“After testing and commissioning of Pier B, we hope to be ready to serve passengers by late summer 2018,” said Stephan Schattney, chief technical officer at airport operator Budapest Airport Ltd.
