Backscatter van at Brussels can scan aircraft

04 December 2017

The Belgian General Administration of Customs and Excise Duties (GAC&E) and Brussels Airport have taken delivery of a Z Backscatter Van from OSI subsidiary American Science & Engineering.

The van, which is equipped with built-in Z Backscatter x-ray imaging technology, features a specific module that makes it particularly suited to scanning aircraft for contraband in a short space of time, even at the stand. The Z Backscatter Van can be driven around the aircraft that needs to be scanned; its integrated backscatter X-ray scanner displays instant photo-like images to the operator.

GAC&E purchased the device with financial support from the European Anti-Fraud Office.
