Narita enhances hold baggage screening

05 December 2017

Smiths Detection is to provide 20 of its high-speed CTX 9800 DSi explosives-detection systems to Narita International Airport in Japan, for deployment between 2019 and 2022.

The new computed tomography CTX 9800s will replace more than 27 legacy CTX systems for hold baggage screening (HBS). An onsite network of engineers and technicians from Smiths Detection will provide preventative and rapid-response maintenance services for a minimum of 10 years.

Earlier, in October, Narita ordered 13 units of the Smiths Detection eqo millimetre-wave body scanner.

The CTX 9800 order is the first to include the CORAL Advanced Predictive Analytics Suite, showcased by Smiths Detection in October at inter airport Europe.
