Hamburg Airport posted an 8.6% increase in passenger volume in 2017, despite a drop in takeoffs and landings at the fifth biggest airport in Germany.
Record full-year passenger traffic of 17.62 million represented growth of 1.4 million, while aircraft movements dipped by 0.5% to 159,780.
With further traffic growth expected in 2018, Hamburg is upgrading terminal technology for passenger processing. In November 2017, for instance, it put ten self-bag drop kiosks from Materna into operation.
